October 2011

This month I read a few mysteries by Anne Perry.  Her mysteries are set in 19th century London and are light and enjoyable reads that often examine the disparate worlds of the upper and lower classes.

I also re-read David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. I read several Dickens novels the summer I turned 17, but it was interesting to return to them as an adult.  I remember being so surprised that a classic novel was so easy to read and so engaging. Dickens said that David Copperfield was his favourite book and I have to agree.  I don’t think I have read any better opening line than the one in David Copperfield.
